¡La Fiesta de Azabu Gardens!
Entertainment, Music, and Delicious Fare Make for an Unforgettable Afternoon
By Edward Cooper
The Azabu Gardens community recently got together for an afternoon filled with fun, food, and great company. ¡La Fiesta de Azabu Gardens! was held on the Roof Terrace on September 14, a perfect late summer day.
Splendid Spread
True to its name, this party featured a Mexican theme. Food was provided by Las Dos Caras, a popular restaurant in Harajuku, and it was both authentic and delicious. Guests could choose soft tacos with their choice of meat. The buffet table practically groaned under the weight of a wide array of tempting dishes. There was savory guacamole, flavorful enchiladas, and even delightfully spicy chicken wings. To quench thirsts there were Corona and Pacifico beers, white wine, and refreshing sodas.
Entertainment Galore
To add to the ambiance, a mariachi band played a number of times. Their lively tunes—which ranged from time-honored classics to contemporary songs—kept everyone in a festive mood. There was more than one time when guests joined in the singing!
Plenty of children took part, entertained by the extremely talented Banzai Mick. His comedy and juggling show had the little ones mesmerized. Later on, Mick made balloon animals for a long line of kids, who proudly walked around the terrace with their new treasures.
Strong Community
While looking out over the scenic neighborhood of Moto-Azabu, dozens of guests mingled and chatted happily. Long-time residents got to catch up with each other after the summer holidays. And some of the older hands brought newer residents up to speed about the neighborhood’s nicest restaurants and great destinations to visit outside of Tokyo.
The convivial setting of the Roof Terrace, the tasty food, and the entertainment made for an unforgettable Saturday afternoon, and as the event wrapped up, residents headed out for the rest of the day with smiles on their faces.
