Azabu Gardens Journal
A Home Away from Home
Bringing you a sophisticated life in Tokyo
By Megan Waters
With a sunny afternoon in early May providing the perfect backdrop for the Azabu Gardens open house event, the visit to this luxury apartment complex gave guests a peek into what it would be like to live at this exclusive Moto-Azabu address.
Officially opened for leasing in May, the apartments, which start from ¥1.4mn, comprise units spread across a seven-floor building. Many offer variations in features and floor plans.
The building itself is beautiful: set back from the hubbub of the city amongst greenery in a quiet tree-lined area of central Tokyo, the structure seems to blend easily into the surroundings. Plenty of natural features in the lobby, as well as an open courtyard in the center of the building, result in a light and airy feel on entering.
The apartments are spectacular, and many “oohs” and “aahs” could be heard from guests while viewing the property. Large windows, high ceilings, hardwood balconies, as well as the integration of Western and traditional features, give a feeling of absolute luxury and spaciousness. When entering the living room, I overheard one guest proclaim: “Wow, this is the perfect place to relax.”
The open-plan kitchens promote a family lifestyle and are equipped with everything you need to hold the perfect dinner party—Viking gas hob, large Viking oven, Whirlpool fridge, and a dishwasher to make cleaning up afterwards that much easier. The marble countertops and extensive cupboards and drawers give you enough space to make preparing healthy and delicious meals for your family easy.
The en-suite bathrooms are a real sanctuary: his and her sinks, heated mirrors to stop steaming, expansive bathtubs, and a walk-in shower room. Under-floor heating and central air-conditioning allow you to control the temperature in each room perfectly. And, if that's not enough, the walk-in closets are those of your dreams. Gentle lighting and high counters mean this environment would be a pleasure in which to get ready for any occasion.
Security cameras throughout the building, Secom security key card with keyless IC readers, and a built-in alarm system are all enabled to keep you and your family safe.
A shared and social space for residents, the Club Lounge has plenty of comfortable couches, a kids' play area, a football table, and a communal kitchen, which can be used as a relaxation space or for parties if you would rather avoid the hassle of cleaning up your own apartment. A great addition to this room is the wooden textured floor.
The Media Room really puts the icing on the cake for communal living. Fitted with a huge wide-screen television with theater setting speakers, Blu-ray player, sunken chairs, and dimmed lighting, this room is a sanctuary for relaxing at any time of the day. Leading off this room is a small but well-equipped gym fitted with state-of-the-art Lifecycle gear by Life Fitness, including treadmills, bikes, cross trainers, and weights, as well as stretching space.
The afternoon tour ended with a Champagne reception and BBQ on the spacious roof terrace complete with kids' play area, picnic tables and lush greenery, as well as panoramic views over the capital and its iconic landmark Tokyo Tower.
A treat to spend time in, residents of Azabu Gardens would rarely have to leave the exclusive property as it has everything your heart desires for a sophisticated life in central Tokyo.
